Punarnava lowers raised blood pressure as it increases renal blood flow and acts as a diuretic (shothaghni), modulates blood circulation (rakta-vinashini), modulates immune functions (shlesma-vinashini), modulates metabolic functions (pitta-vinashini). It is a powerful rasayana (longevity enhancer) that enhances the quality of bodily tissues, including nutrient plasma (rasa), blood (rakta), muscle (mamsa), fat (meda), bone marrow (majja), and reproductive fluids (shukra). According to ayurveda, it acts as diuretic by increasing renal blood flow.
Bhumi-amalaki modulates metabolic and thyroid functions (pitta-asra-apaha) and lowers raised BP. Diuretic, hypotensive and hypoglycemic effects of Phyllanthus niruri on human subjects were assessed. Nine mild hypertensives (four of them also suffering from diabetes mellitus) were treated with a preparation of the whole plant for 10 days. Suitable parameters were studied in the blood and urine samples of the subjects, along with physiological profile and dietary pattern before and after the treatment period. Significant increase in 24 hr urine volume, urine and serum Na levels was observed. A significant reduction in systolic blood pressure in non-diabetic hypertensives and female subjects was noted. Blood glucose was also significantly reduced in the treated group. Clinical observations revealed no harmful side effects. These observations indicate that P. niruri is a potential diuretic, hypotensive and hypoglycemic drug for humans.

Jatamansi lowers raised BP by modulating cognitive functions (medhya), modulates blood circulation (asranut), modulates hypothalamic-pituitary functions (tridoshanut).
SAMVYAN Tablet aims at correcting the possible basic abnormalities responsible for raising the blood pressure. Hence, it acts slowly. So, the high BP patients already on other (allopathic) BP-lowering medicines should be allowed to continue the same along with SAMVYAN Tablet. Over time, as the BP starts coming down, let the attending physician reduce the dose of the BP-lowering medicines.
