Akik is cardiotonic (hrid-balya) and thus beneficial in cardiac debility (hridaya-durbalata).
Arjuna is cardiotonic (hridya), cardio-protective (visha-jit), anti-dyslipidemic (medo-hara), anti-diabetic (prameha-hara), wound-healer (vrana-hara), anti-ischemic (asra-jit), and antioxidant (kshaya-jit). In addition, it protects myocardium against ischemic damage (kshata-jit). It is a mild diuretic, anti-thrombotic, and prostaglandin E(2) enhancer. It reduces left ventricular mass, increases left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), and reverses impaired endothelial function. Arjuna is also known as Terminalia arjuna.
Zaharmohra is cardiotonic (hrid-balya) and thus useful in cardiac debility (hridaya-durbalata).
Gandira owing to its diterpene derivative forskolin activates the enzyme adenylate cyclase to promote the generation of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP). cAMP is a cell-regulating compound that stimulates various enzymes involved in a broad range of cellular function, including energy production. Activation of adenylate cyclase by forskolin correlates with its positive cardiotonic (inotropic) and vasodilator effects. Forskolin directly stimulates the catalytic unit of adenylate cyclase independently of any receptor mediated mechanism of action. Gandira is also known as Coleus forskohlii.
Vanaplandu has been described to increase the force of contraction of the heart muscle like digitalis. It is thus used in the management of heart failure (hrid-roga-janya-shotha). Urginea indica (Roxb.) Kunth (Liliaceae), known as Indian squill, is a good substitute for the Mediterranean squill (U. maritima (L.) Baker) used worldwide as a cardiac drug. The cardiac glycoside obtained from U. indica (Roxb.) Kunth is similar to scillarens, A and B of the Mediterranean squill with very little difference. Vanaplandu is also known as Urginea indica.
High doses over extended periods may lead to reduced appetite, nausea, vomiting, pain in the abdomen, weakness, fatigue, dizziness, irregular heart beat, etc.
Avoid during pregnancy and children below 6 years. Not be used in patients suffering from heart block, low heart rate (bradycardia), and along with cardiac glycosides (eg, digitalis).
Should always used under the supervision of a qualified ayurveda doctor.
INDICATION |
On the basis of the actions of its ingredients, CARDITONZ Tablet, is used as an adjuvant in the management of the following disease conditions – (1) Heart failure – Inability of the heart muscle to pump enough blood into the body. (2) Reduced pumping capacity of the left ventricle (Low LVEF). (3) Abnormally raised heart rate (Tachycardia). (4) Thumping sensation felt in the chest with every heart beat (Palpitation). |
